| NEW TEMPLE
|
Bharat Sevashram Sangha is a
traditional Hindu monastic organization established in
1917. It was founded by Acharya Swami Pranavanandaji
Maharaj, a great spiritual leader and social reformer of
modern India. In keeping with the tradition of spreading
the message and teachings of the Acharya, the New Jersey
chapter of Bharat Sevashram Sangha was started 12 years
back, initially in a small apartment in Jersey City and
later on in a modest building in South Brunswick
Township where we are currently situated. Over the last
twelve years, we have been working to spread the core
values of our Ashram within the community, as below:
- Moral & spiritual regeneration of Hinduism.
- Service of humanity, irrespective of caste, creed, religion or national origin.
- Spread of moral, spiritual, and physical education for the youth.
- Education through moral and spiritual publications.
- Teachings of yoga & meditation.
- Spreading ancient Vedic Philosophy in all parts of USA, Canada, Europe and South America.
- Distribution of free food, clothes and medicine among the less fortunate people.
We are proud to say that during this time, the Ashram
that started with a handful of devotees has now become a
cultural and spiritual melting pot for not just the
local community, but for people from all over. Our
Ashram very frequently overflows with people. We have
therefore embarked upon an ambitious project to build a
new temple and community center. In addition to the
Temple, the development will have a kitchen, spacious
dining hall, rooms to conduct classes on Yoga,
Meditation, Language, Philosophy, dance classes, music
classes and to organize Seminars. There will also be a
Vedic Library and office. The estimated cost of the
project is approximately $3 million.
We have begun the construction of our new Ashram at the
same premises where we are located now. We are at a
point in our journey where we need the support, guidance
and participation of each and everyone who can help us
complete our project. On behalf of the Sangha and its
devotees, I request you to accept our invitation to be a
part of this ambitious project and support its
completion. Please make check payable to ‘Bharat
Sevashram Sangha’ and mail to the above address. Your
contribution, which is tax deductible, will go a long
way in building this Ashram which will stand as a symbol
of the guiding principles of Swami Pranavanandaji
Maharaj.
Sincerely yours,
Swami Amarnathananda
